The Story

Meet the Virnig V40 Skeleton Rock Grapple (SSL) for CTL and skid steer applications—a purpose-built attachment designed to grab rocks and debris while leaving soil behind. Ideal for landscapers, contractors, and site cleanup crews, it delivers focused rock removal with clean, efficient digging.

  • Universal mounting kit: Includes hoses, couplers & fittings to fit a wide range of machines
  • Optional cylinder guard: Provides added protection for hoses and cylinders (extra $95)
  • Optional Open Sides: Configurable sides for better access in tight spaces
  • Two-cylinder independent grapple: Dual hydraulic cylinders with a precise 3" tine spacing for controlled operation
  • Rigorous tine construction: Every other tine is one piece from tip to top brace for rigidity; 3/8" Grade 50 steel
  • Rock-damming design: Raised center ridge and tips notches secure rocks during digging and handling
  • Heavy-duty hydraulics: 2" bore, 8.375" stroke cylinders with NitroSteel rods for corrosion, dent, and flake resistance
  • Low-maintenance pivots: Greasable 1¼" pins and hinge pins with Teflon-coated bushings at the jaw hinge
  • Removable bolt-on step: Laser-cut steel, built for durability and easy footing on the machine
  • Compatibility note: Known clearance issue on John Deere G-Series loaders (330G, 331G, 332G, 333G)
  • Models & dimensions: BSRGV66 (67.6" wide), BSRGV72 (74.3" wide), BSRGV84 (87.5" wide); depth 39.9" for all; jaw opening 35.2"
  • Weight & tines: 925 lb (BSRGV66), 960 lb (BSRGV72), 1040 lb (BSRGV84); 21–27 tines depending on model with 2.9" spacing
  • Shipping: In-stock items typically ship in 3–5 days; non-stock items typically ship in 4–6 weeks

The Virnig V40 Skeleton Rock Grapple is engineered to maximize rock and debris separation from soil, speeding cleanup without unnecessary soil disturbance. The skeleton design keeps weight down while maintaining strength, so you can move materials efficiently on rugged sites. The raised rock dam and notch-tipped tines help secure loads during digging, reducing spill and renegotiation time. NitroSteel cylinder rods resist corrosion and wear, while the Teflon-coated bushings and greasable pins minimize maintenance needs between jobs. For projects that demand precision rock clearing—whether preparing ground for planting, chipping away at debris-filled lots, or maintaining gravel drives—this attachment delivers consistent, reliable performance.
